January 2016- Overcoming the January blues!

 

A great way to ensure that the New Year gets off to a bad start is to focus on all the things you failed to achieve/do/accomplish the year before. Don’t linger on the past! Ever heard of the saying ‘Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present’? We can’t do anything about what has passed and by ruminating on what has been it can rob us of what is. This month, wake each morning and try to call to mind something you can be grateful for. It doesn’t have to be anything hugely momentous, it could just be you’re glad you get to see your friend after work that day or that you are having macaroni cheese for dinner…anything! And with tomorrow being a mystery, well what an opportunity! You don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and sure there may be some struggles along the way but it also means that there is an opportunity for things to be great. Focus on how you want things to be and make it happen. Set achievable goals and plan how you can achieve them.
